The Saudi Food and Drug Authority’s CEO, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, met with a number of British CEOs, businessmen, and representatives of the private sector during his recent visit to the UK. A focus of the visit was on a discussion of obstacles and challenges faced by investors in the food, drug, and medical devices and products sector. In addition, the visit also focused on the initiatives provided by the SFDA to facilitate the procedures for investors, in line with Vision 2030 for the Kingdom.
By strengthening intellectual property protection for innovative pharmaceutical products, SFDA hopes to attract investment in the pharmaceutical sector. Enhancing transparency in registration procedures, enhancing confidence in intellectual property protection procedures, and increasing the number of innovative international companies that fully manufacture many of their products in local factories, or factories established by those companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In the same context, the CEO of SFDA met with Ranil Jayawardena, UK Minister for International Trade. As a result of the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries, both sides emphasized their commitment to bolstering their cooperation in the food and drug sectors.
