Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, met with Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner for International Partnerships at the European Union, to explore further cooperation between the UAE and the EU, particularly in relation to sub-Saharan Africa. They discussed policy priorities and related programmes, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the European Green Deal, global recovery, and the European Union’s global initiative.
They also discussed ways to support countries and regions of common interest, such as the Horn of Africa. In addition, they discussed the latest economic and trade developments in Africa, particularly in the health, education, and digital transformation sectors. Sheikh Shakhboot confirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with friendly European Union countries. Urpilainen commended the UAE for its leading position at the regional and international levels, as well as its outstanding achievements in all fields of development. Furthermore, she also emphasized the importance of joint action in the humanitarian work of the African countries as well as in the industrial sectors.
