Kuwait is eager to strengthen its cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO), according to a Kuwaiti diplomat. The Permanent Representative of Kuwait at the headquarters of the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Jamal Al-Ghunaim, said he and ILO Director General Guy Ryder had discussed a range of issues, among them expanding cooperation between the two sides.
Kuwait and ILO are keen on strengthening their cooperation in the labor sector to support both employer and employee rights, he said. The two sides have already been cooperating closely through the ILO’s regional office in Beirut, Lebanon. In his meeting with Ryder, he mentioned the ILO’s annual meeting, where Kuwait would send a delegation consisting of government, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and labor. In his remarks, Al-Ghunaim thanked the ILO for including the Palestinian laborers crisis in its annual report.
