The Indian Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, has said that India, as the world’s largest filmmaker country, has the potential to be the world’s most important content hub. Mr Thakur stated that power is an interaction between hard power and soft power during the second day of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.
Soft power is needed to establish good relationships as it captures the imagination and touches the heart, while hard power is necessary to exist and remain relevant. Indian cinema has emerged as a soft power in the last few decades, he said. The world is now looking towards India, which is emerging as a hard and soft power. Prominent among the other speakers in the panel included actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene and actor, producer, director Shekhar Kapur.
